Description
Visitors to the church can look out over the city of Budapest and the surrounding landscape. Budapest's neoclassical cathedral, which took almost a half-century to complete (1905), is the most sacred Catholic church in Hungary and houses the revered relic of its patron saint, King St. Stephen - his mummified right hand. Unfortunately, the building's construction was interrupted by a 1868 storm that caused the dome to collapse and necessitated a full reconstruction. Today, the view from the dome is unparalleled, as visitors can take in a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings.
