Description

The Grand Boulevard of Budapest

Nagykörút, in English the Grand Boulevard, is a major route in the city center of Budapest. Built in 1896, it counts as one of the most important thoroughfares of the city. It is formed of five connected streets: Szent István körút, Teréz körút, Erzsébet körút, József körút and Ferenc körút.

Nagykörút is the site of many important landmarks, including the Comedy Theatre, the Museum of Applied Arts, and the Nyugati pályaudvar (Western Railway Station). The boulevard is lined up with high end hotels, shops, cafes and restaurants, many very affordable, and not known by tourists.
