Description
Founded as the Ethnographic Department of the Hungarian National Museum in 1872
The Museum of Ethnography (Néprajzi Múzeum) position opposite Parliament says much about how seriously Hungarians take their folk traditions. Displays of Hungarian village and farm life, folk art and customs are accompanied by English texts.
Originally constructed to serve as the Supreme Court, this monumental, gilt-columned edifice with ceiling frescoes by Károly Lotz is anything but folky.
