Description

In 2004, an impressive modern building opened to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the beginning of the Holocaust in Hungary. Inside, the thematic permanent exhibition traces the emergence of anti-Semitism in Hungary and the tragic genocide that befell Hungary’s Jewish and Roma populations. The centre also features a restored synagogue, designed by Leopold Baumhorn in 1924, that regularly hosts temporary exhibitions. Nearby, an 8-meter-high wall bears the names of Hungarian victims of the Holocaust.
