Description

The Great Synagogue of Budapest, a magnificent structure built in 1859, stands as the largest Jewish house of worship outside of New York City. It is a striking example of a blend of Romantic and Moorish architectural styles. Within the synagogue, the Hungarian Jewish Museum & Archives contain artifacts of religious and secular life. On its northern side, the Holocaust Tree of Life Memorial stands as a somber reminder of the Nazi atrocities committed against those whose mass graves lie beneath the monument.
