Description
The largest green space in downtown Pest
Erzsébet tér is a lovely green area in the heart of the inner city. It is named for Empress Elisabeth of Austria and Queen of Hungary, the wife of Emperor Franz Joseph I. At the heart of the square you can admire the Danubius Fountain, built in 1880, and symbolizing the rivers of Hungary.
Another important attraction located at Erzsébet tér is the Design Terminal, an urban institution that encourages emerging creative startups, and houses important art and cultural events every year. The square is also a favorite meeting point for local students.
