Description

The house at North of Szilágyi Erzsébet fasor, where the great composer resided from 1932 until 1940, is open for visits as part of a guided tour. On the tour, visitors can view the old Edison recorder (complete with wax cylinders) that Bartók used to record Hungarian folk music in Transylvania, as well as his hand-carved dining-room furniture and even half a cigarette he smoked! Built in 1924, the house holds chamber-music concerts throughout the year; more information can be found on the website.
