Description

Aquincum, thought to be the most comprehensive Roman civilian settlement in Hungary, was constructed in around 100 AD and was designated the seat of the Roman Pannonia Inferior province in AD 106. Visitors to the site can marvel at its houses, baths, courtyards, fountains, underfloor heating systems, as well as a re-created Roman painter's dwelling and a Mithraeum. An Aquincum Museum, located directly at the entrance, offers an extensive collection of Roman artifacts and wall paintings, enabling one to gain a better understanding of the ruins.
